Drams & Cams 1 (1)_edited_edited.png

October 1st -5th, 2026

Drams and Cams is an all inclusive 5 day Scottish Whisky & Photography Retreat, hosted by whisky expert Mitch Bechard and professional photographer Erik McRitchie, blending great whisky, expert photography tuition, creative storytelling, and unforgettable places.

No rush. No box-ticking. Just time, perspective, and a camera in hand.

Day 1 - October 1st, 2026 - Arrival & Welcome | Edinburgh

Your Drams & Cams adventure begins in Edinburgh. After arriving independently, you’ll check into your hotel and have time to settle in, wander the city, or simply relax after your journey.

That evening, we come together for dinner at the exclusive Scotch Malt Whisky Society, where the first drams are poured and the group begins to get to know one another. It’s an easy, welcoming start to the trip, good whisky, good company, and the first taste of what’s to come.

Day 2 - October 2nd, 2026 – Edinburgh to Speyside

The day begins with a morning photography session capturing Edinburgh’s streets, character, and skyline before we leave the city behind and head north.

On the journey into Speyside, we’ll stop in the ancient forests of Perthshire for waterfall photography and a chance to stretch the legs in some properly cinematic scenery. From there, we continue north to Speyside, where the day ends with a whisky-paired dinner and the soft evening light by the river. Our Speyside home for the retreat is the legendary Craigellachie Hotel, one of Scotland's most iconic whisky hotels

Day 3 – October 3rd, 2026 - Speyside Whisky Day

Day three is centred on the connection between whisky and place, how landscape, atmosphere, and story all shape the experience in the glass. For those keen to start early, there’s an optional sunrise shoot before a full day of photography and whisky sessions around Speyside.

The day also includes a private distillery visit and an editing and storytelling workshop, before finishing in style with a nine-course tasting menu at The Macallan Distillery.

Day 4 – October 4th, 2026 - Loch Ness & Inverness

Our final full day takes us north through the Highlands to the legendary waters of Loch Ness. Here, we head out by speedboat for a photography experience on the loch — an exhilarating way to take in the landscape and capture one of Scotland’s most iconic settings from the water.

Later, we make our way to Inverness for the final evening together. Over a farewell dinner, we’ll celebrate the adventure with good food, shared stories, and a few well-earned, light-hearted awards before the trip draws to a close.

Day 5 – October 5th, 2026 -  Departures
A relaxed breakfast before departing from Inverness, leaving with new skills, new friendships, and a collection of images and memories from the road.
